Learning the neck
Each fret raises a string by one half step. The 12th fret (double inlay) is exactly one octave above the open string, so the pattern of notes repeats from there. The open strings from thickest to thinnest are E, A, D, G, B, E, easy to remember as “Eddie Ate Dynamite, Good Bye Eddie”.
Notice that the 5th fret of each string matches the next open string, except on the G string, where it’s the 4th fret. What tuning does the virtual guitar use?
Standard tuning, E A D G B E from the thickest to the thinnest string. Drop D and other tunings are available on the guitar tuner.
